It was first thrown on a potter's wheel, then carved by hand before being glazed and fired. The center of the dish has been left unglazed, leaving a dark, velvety circle of raw black clay to represent the moon and sun in syzygy during an eclipse.
Due to the hand made process of pottery, as well as the intricate carved pattern, all results will vary slightly from piece to piece. Although I strive for consistency, they are all one of a kind.
